Burewarmot

Burewarmot
The name of the court at, for example, Torksey and Lincoln in the 12c. It is a sign that the two were ancient boroughs, Torksey having been held in *demesne by Queen Edith (d. 1075) before the Conquest. [< OldEngl. burgwara + gemot = assembly of burgesses]
